Vallozzi's Vision
Ernie Vallozzi has played a large role in his community since he opened Vallozzi's in 1978. Most notably he sponsors and coordinates two major annual special events for two local agencies, The YMCA and Westmoreland Hospital. Each summer Ernie organizes a national croquet tournament held in Greensburg, PA which draws over 1,500 people with 250 participants from across the nation. As a nationally sanctioned tournament, it is a must on croquet circuits and raises over $70,000 for the local YMCA's youth and family programs. All food, publicity and services are donated by Vallozzi's each year.
Vallozzi's
has also raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the
local Westmoreland County Hospital to satisfy their social service
needs. Ernie has hosted a major dinner for donators and
benefactors and contributes the food, beverages, services and
his venue to support this cause. In 1995, Ernie brought
in the Mendelssonn Choir and the money raised from the event
went toward building pastoral services at the hospitals. Ernie's
staff is so committed to his charities that they volunteer to
work these events without compensation.
Currently Ernie serves on the Board
of the Greensburg YMCA as Chairman of Special Events, on the
Board of Westmoreland Hospital and as President of the Greensburg
Croquet Club. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of
Patrons of the Arts in Vatican Museums and of the Westmoreland
Society.
Ernie has grown to be a vital member of his community and has become a valuable contributor to the health and growth of Greensburg by assuming responsibility for giving back to the people who have supported his restaurant for over two decades. Through his charitable contributions, Ernie Vallozzi serves as a role model to all local businesspeople and raises the profile and prestige of the foodservice industry throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
