Welcome to our wine reviews – we enjoy the exercise of reviewing a wine and passing along our judgment on a particular wine – but it is only that, our judgment. Everyone has a unique palate, one which may get a completely different taste profile from a particular wine; the true fun is in actually tasting the wine and then making notes related to your own tasting experiences on other wines you’ve tasted – this is where the learning takes place. Please, never let anyone tell you what you should and shouldn’t taste in a wine…..that is completely up to you and your taste buds and palate!
Now is the fun part (for me) – I will be posting my personal wine reviews of wines that I’ve had – these reviews will follow a loose format that will try to include:
• The wine name, with region and vintage (sometimes a picture of the label)
• Where the wine is or was – (on our wine list, at a tasting, at a restaurant, etc.)
• Descriptive words from the taster’s palate
• Buying outcome – would you buy it, recommend it, drinkable, didn’t like, etc.
• A number score between 50 and 100, with 100 being the best
• Comments – any additional comments or impressions
• The wine reviewer’s name (or anonymous), perhaps even with a picture of the reviewer
• Where available in Pennsylvania
• Tasting notes or winemaker notes from the winery website or literature
Not only will I be reviewing wines periodically, but you’ll also see reviews from other Vallozzi’s staff members, wine professionals, salespersons and even some Vallozzi’s guests reviews. If you are interested in reviewing a wine for posting; please contact Jim at demetri.wine@comcast.net. In addition to reviews we will occasionally have some information on the actual art of tasting wine, both formally and informally.
Cheers,
